After feeling trapped in their home country of Holland, Claudia and Rachid decided it was time to realise Claudia’s childhood dream of moving to Australia. A migration agent advised them they would not be granted an Australian working visa. They didn’t have much money in the bank. If they couldn’t work they wouldn’t last long. But they decided to try their luck. They packed five bags, their young family and headed to Australia on a tourist visa.

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in designing, developing and refining digital media technologies as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team. It provides the opportunity to work in new and emerging digital media technology areas, such as online, and interactive design and development, and with tools and equipment, such as software, Web 2 tools, technologies and mobile devices.

The Diploma covers: advanced digital image editing using Adobe Photoshop; E-commerce web design and development; web development for mobile devices; mobile application development using Advanced HTML5; video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro; web programming using PHP, ASP.Net and XML; advanced 2D animation using Adobe Flash and ActionScript programming; website testing and Internet preparation; search engine optimisation (SEO); workplace safety management; website development project.

The Diploma provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to design, build and manage websites as an independent web developer or as part of a team. Possible job roles include web developer, web development manager, web programmer, website manager, webmaster, web administrator, internet developer.
