After feeling trapped in their home country of Holland, Claudia and Rachid decided it was time to realise Claudia’s childhood dream of moving to Australia. A migration agent advised them they would not be granted an Australian working visa. They didn’t have much money in the bank. If they couldn’t work they wouldn’t last long. But they decided to try their luck. They packed five bags, their young family and headed to Australia on a tourist visa.

Sue Rattanor

The steady growth over the past 15 years of web based communication sites, including social media platforms has had an enormous impact on the print magazine and newspaper business model.

People around the world now expect their news, lifestyle and other information to be at their finger-tips. As an editor and co-owner of a Thai girl magazine, Sue realised her graphic design and editing skills were quickly becoming out-dated and that she needed to re-train in the new technology. Sue looked at options to acquire these skills in her home country but decided to migrate to Adelaide to study at Tafe South Australia.

After completing two specialised information technology diplomas, including a website and multi-media design course, Sue step straight into full-time work as a website and graphic designer at the Mollydooker Winery in McLaren.

Pramod Bhogadi

As a young communications and electronics graduate in Chennai (India), Pramod knew that he wanted to work outdoors in an industry that would give him plenty of opportunities to build his career.

Pramod decided that the mining industry would give him the type of work and lifestyle which he was looking for. Pramod successfully applied to study a specialised masters degree in mining in Western Australia which gave him the pathway to secure full-time work with one of the world’s biggest mining companies, Rio Tinto.

This is Pramod’s journey from Chennai to the rich iron ore fields in the Pilbara in Western Australia
