English Language Intensive Course

The English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) program has been designed for international students who require English language training before commencing formal studies in Australia. The ELICOS definition means that programs are open to everyone, including people who are in Australia on a tourist or visitor visa and people who do not want to do any further study after their English classes are over. However, restrictions may apply in these cases. Students undertaking ELICOS programs may come to Australia with plans to undertake further studies, with English language as the stepping stone to another course or as a standalone program.

General English 40 

The General English (GE) courses are designed for International students (ie student visa holders) and holders of other temporary visas who wish to improve their English for a variety of purposes. The courses aim to develop the students’ general English skills and prepare them to be successful in interacting with native speakers and teachers in Australia.

The Course will provide an introduction to studying in Australia; speaking, pronunciation and oral presentations; listening and discussion; reading and writing skills; extension studies: eg pronunciation, grammar extension, preparation for IELTS

English for Academic Purposes 10

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses are designed for upper intermediate level International students who are planning to do further study in a TAFE South Australia Award course, and provide the student with the necessary academic English skills required for this purpose. The course also aims to prepare students to be successful in interacting with native speakers and teachers in TAFE Award courses

The Course will provide an introduction  to studying in Australia at tertiary level; Academic Writing and Reading Skills; Speaking, Pronunciation and Oral Presentations; Tutorial-style group discussions; Listening, note-taking skills and auditing award course lectures

The course will provide extended reading and writing skills; extended pronunciation skills; develop extended listening skills; build topic vocabulary; develop complex grammar skills; develop language skills through media; speak and listen to complex texts; read and write complex texts; prepare for further study; demonstrate an understanding of sustainable practice
