South Australian Nomination Scheme for Immigration

Immigration SA is the State Government agency responsible for international migration to South Australia.

They work with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to attract eligible skilled and business migrants to South Australia through state nominated visa programs.

These programs offer pathways to permanent residency for skilled migrants and business people who wish to settle in South Australia.

The entire state of South Australia, including Adelaide city centre, is defined as regional for migration purposes. This means that candidates can access all of the benefits associated with living in a regional centre (i.e. additional points towards the Skilled Migration Points test) while living and working in a city.

Benefits of state nomination in South Australia include: 

  • Access to a more extensive State occupation list compared with the DIBP Skilled Occupation List (SOL). The state nominated occupation list can be found: here 

  • A separate occupation list for international graduates who have completed a bachelor degree or higher in South Australia.

  • Additional points towards the Federal points test for the 190 Skilled Nominated visa and the 489 – Skilled Regional visa

  • If granted state nomination, applicants will receive priority visa processing with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

  • State nomination is the only pathway to secure a business visa.
